CSC Holds Community Service in Maesot

On two CPIS vans, eight Central Student Council (CSC) officers and members left CPIS campus on January 5, 2020 and headed to Maesot which is situated in the border between Burma and Thailand.

With a distance of 1,500 kilometers to journey, the students were accompanied by the CSC sponsor, T Mhike, and four other chaperons. The specific mission was to distribute goods and cash donated by parents, students, and teachers to a deserving school named Naung Bo Den School (NBDS), which is currently serving 100+ students mostly ethnic Karens. A couple of teachers commented that the trip was emotionally touching and life-changing experience for CPIS students who have been enjoying the luxury and comforts of the modern life. They were impressed by the simplicity, joy, and contentment demonstrated by the NBDS students despite the marginalized environment and school resources. A couple of students even decided to give more including the trip allowance to help alleviate in small way the plight of the NBDS students.

On one Wednesday chapel time, the Maesot team reported to the students by showing a powerful video clip which captivated the hearts of the students and teachers. Such gripping experience and moving video clip had driven some to have emotionally teary eyes. Kudos to the Maesot team for a job well done and a very well-organized community service.
